Priscilla Block marked a full-circle moment after nearly a decade of pursuing her career as an artist in Nashville, Tennessee. The North Carolina-born singer-songwriter soared from a cubicle job at a music company to headlining a concert hosted on its rooftop (rather, the highest level of its parking garage to offer a shield from the rain).
Block moved to Music City nearly a decade ago, in 2014. She was fresh out of high school, and has since endured the ups and downs of crafting her artistry (including some encouragement from global megastar Taylor Swift) before claiming the stage as part of the BMI Rooftop On The Row concert series, presented by George Dickel Tennessee Whisky, on Tuesday evening (May 16).
“Crazy to think that 7 years ago I was working in a cubical at [BMI] and last night we threw a rooftop Block Party,” Block reflected in an Instagram caption as she shared a few snapshots from the show. “Life is crazy. Thanks Nashville for showing up and packing it out!”
Block delivered a high-energy performance following a set by American Idol alum Chayce Beckham, packed with fan-favorite like “My Bar,” “Me Pt. 2,” “Off The Deep End,” “Thick Thighs” and “Just About Over You,” among others. She also reflected on the stories behind some of her biggest songs, including “Peaked In High School,” how she landed her smash-hit duet with Justin Moore (“You, Me, And Whiskey,” which she performed with songwriter and bass player Josh Beale), “Like A Boy” and more.
Block, who performed with Moore during the 2023 iHeartCountry Festival over the weekend, released her debut album, Welcome To The Block Party, in February 2022. She expanded her original 12-track project with a 16-track deluxe edition earlier this year to “complete the Block Party era.” Find it on iHeartRadio here.
