The San Antonio Missions dropped their third consecutive game against the Hooks on Saturday night. After allowing a five-run inning, a late comeback attempt fell short. Final score was 6-3.
After a scoreless first inning, the Corpus Christi offense put up a crooked number against Missions starter Jerry Keel. The Hooks scored five runs on six hits during the second inning. Matthew Barefoot got the rally started with an RBI single. Ross Adolph drove in two runs with a double down the left field line. Corey Julksdrove in a run with an RBI double. Lastly, Joe Perez plated a run with an RBI single. San Antonio trailed 5-0.
Corpus Christi added an insurance run in the top of the fourth inning. Adolph hit a line drive solo home run over the right field wall. The exit velocity was measured at 109 miles per hour off the bat. The Hooks extended their lead to 6-0.
The Missions had a scoring opportunity in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Missions loaded the bases with two outs after Kyle Overstreet, Michael Curry, and Olivier Basabe all drew walks. Chandler Seagle came up to bat looking to cut into the deficit. He struck out looking to strand the runners.
Jerry Keel made his first start of the year for the Missions. He made three appearances in early and mid-April before being transferred to Triple-A El Paso. The veteran left-hander allowed six earned runs on 10 hits in five innings of work. He was replaced by Henry Henry.
Henry tossed two scoreless innings while striking out two batters and allowing three hits. Carlos Belen pitched two scoreless innings in the eighth and the ninth.
The Missions added their first run in the bottom of the eighth inning. After walks to Esteury Ruiz and Ben Ruta, plus a single from Jose Azocar, the Missions had the bases loaded with one out. A sacrifice fly from Overstreet drove in Ruiz.
San Antonio held a late comeback in the bottom of the ninth inning. Michae Curry drew a walk to start the inning. After two outs, Rosario was hit by a pitch.
