Flying Chanclas Take Down the RoughRiders

A first inning RBI and some stellar pitching aided the Flying Chanclas to a 3-1 victory against Frisco Thursday night. The Chanclas pitching staff allowed one base hit.

After struggling to score in the first two games of the series, the Missions wasted no time getting a run on the board. With one out, CJ Abrams was hit by a pitch. The next batter was Kyle Overstreet who drove in Abrams with a double off the center field wall. It was his third double of the year and 9th RBI of the season. His hit gave the Flying Chanclas a 1-0 lead.

Aaron Leasher pitched a gem for San Antonio. In five innings of work, he allowed one base hit, walked two batters, and struck out five. The five innings pitched, and five strikeouts are season highs for Leasher. The only hit Leasher allowed came on a 4th inning single from Elier Hernandez. With the win, he improves to 1-1 on the season.

James Reeves was the next pitcher for the Chanclas. He came into the game with an 8.2 scoreless innings streak. He pitched two scoreless innings while retiring all six batters he faced.

San Antonio added an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh inning. With Chris Givin on first, Jack Suwinski hit a double off the center field wall. Givin scored all the way from first. The Chanclas took a 2-0 lead.

After joining the Missions on Wednesday, right-hander Nick Kuzia made his 2021 season debut. He retired all three batters he faced.

In the bottom of the 8th inning, Overstreet added to his terrific game with an RBI single. Abrams, who reached on an error, scored on the play to make it a 3-0 game.

Frisco scored their one and only run in the top of the 9th. The leadoff man reached on an error from Eguy Rosario. He came around to score after two ground outs.
