Could We Be Affected by a Tropical System Forming in the Atlantic?

FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE:

Overview:

The National Hurricane Center is monitoring an area of disturbed weather over the southeastern Bahamas and southwestern Atlantic. Environmental conditions could become favorable for development as the system moves into the eastern Gulf of Mexico Friday and over the weekend. There is currently a medium (60%) chance for tropical cyclone development at that time. Currently any direct impacts from this system across South-Central Texas appear very low. The more likely area to be impacted currently looks like the northern Gulf coast. However, we will closely monitor and if forecast conditions change update you.
